Liposuction Recovery: Essential Tips for a Smooth Recovery
by Alfons Mala
on Feb 14 2023
Liposuction is a cosmetic procedure that involves the removal of excess fat from different areas of the body, typically using a suction technique. The recovery period after liposuction is essential to ensure optimal healing and results. Here are some tips to aid in the liposuction recovery process:
1. Follow Your Surgeon's Instructions
After liposuction, your surgeon will provide you with detailed instructions on how to care for yourself during the recovery period. It's important to follow these instructions closely to ensure the best possible outcome.
Your surgeon may provide specific instructions regarding compression garments, activity levels, wound care, medications, sleeping positions, and when you can return to normal activities. Recovery recommendations can vary depending on the areas treated and the extent of the procedure.
2. Rest and Allow Your Body to Heal
Rest is critical during the recovery period after liposuction. You may need to take some time off work and avoid strenuous activities for a few weeks, as this will give your body the necessary time to heal.
Although rest is important, your surgeon may also recommend gentle movement or short walks during recovery. Follow your surgeon's instructions regarding when and how much activity is appropriate.
3. Wear Compression Garments
Your surgeon will likely advise you to wear compression garments, fajas, or shapewear to help reduce swelling and support the treated areas during the healing process.
Compression garments are available in different styles and levels of compression. The right garment should fit properly and be used according to your surgeon's recommendations rather than simply choosing the tightest option.
For patients preparing for or recovering from liposuction, our Liposuction Kits can provide convenient access to recovery essentials, while our Lipo Collection offers compression garments and other products designed for the post-procedure period.
4. Take Pain Medication as Prescribed
It's normal to experience some pain and discomfort after liposuction. Your surgeon may prescribe pain medication to help manage this.
Take medications exactly as directed by your healthcare provider. Do not take additional medications or supplements without checking with your surgeon, particularly during the early stages of recovery.
5. Stay Hydrated
Drinking plenty of water and fluids is essential during the recovery period to help your body heal and avoid dehydration.
Unless your healthcare provider has given you different instructions, maintaining adequate hydration can support your body's normal recovery processes.
6. Eat a Healthy Diet
A balanced diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables can aid in the healing process after liposuction.
Try to include adequate protein, whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and other nutrient-rich foods in your meals. A nutritious diet can help provide the energy and nutrients your body needs while recovering.
7. Avoid Smoking
Smoking can negatively impact the healing process, so it's essential to avoid smoking before and after the procedure.
Nicotine can interfere with blood flow and may affect wound healing. Follow your surgeon's instructions regarding smoking and nicotine use throughout your recovery.
8. Attend Follow-Up Appointments
Follow-up appointments with your surgeon are crucial to monitor your healing progress and ensure the best possible results.
These appointments allow your surgeon to assess swelling, healing, and other aspects of your recovery and to make recommendations about compression garments, activity, and other aftercare.
9. Make Sitting and Resting More Comfortable
Depending on the areas treated, sitting and resting may be uncomfortable during the initial recovery period. Your surgeon may provide specific instructions about positioning and sitting after your procedure.
If your recovery also involves a BBL or another procedure affecting the buttocks, using doctor-recommended BBL recovery pillows may help you follow positioning instructions while reducing direct pressure on the treated area.
A recovery pillow should be used according to your surgeon's guidance, particularly when combining recovery products after multiple procedures.
10. Be Patient With Swelling and Results
Swelling and bruising are common during the early stages of liposuction recovery. Your body needs time to heal, and the final appearance may not be immediately visible after the procedure.
Continue following your surgeon's instructions and attend your scheduled follow-up appointments. Your recovery timeline can vary depending on the treatment area, amount of fat removed, individual healing response, and whether other procedures were performed at the same time.
When Should You Contact Your Surgeon?
While some discomfort, swelling, and bruising can be expected after liposuction, contact your surgeon if you experience symptoms that concern you or appear significantly different from the recovery instructions you were given.
Seek medical attention promptly for symptoms such as severe or worsening pain, significant bleeding, difficulty breathing, chest pain, high fever, or other symptoms your healthcare provider has identified as warning signs.
Final Thoughts on Liposuction Recovery
In summary, liposuction recovery is an essential part of the overall procedure. Following your surgeon's instructions, resting, wearing compression garments, taking pain medication as prescribed, staying hydrated, eating a healthy diet, avoiding smoking, and attending follow-up appointments are all important steps to aid in the healing process and achieve optimal results.
Having the right recovery supplies prepared before your procedure can also make the recovery period more manageable. From compression garments and Liposuction Kits to products in our Lipo Collection, choose recovery products based on your procedure and your healthcare provider's recommendations.

When to Use a Stage 1, 2, or 3 Compression Faja
by CYNTHIA
on Feb 14 2023
It is important to use the right stage of compression Faja after surgery to ensure proper healing and the best possible surgical results. Here is a breakdown of when to use each stage of compression Faja germants .
Stage 1 Compression Faja:
This is the first Faja you will wear immediately after surgery, and it should be worn for 0-2 weeks post-op. This Faja has minimal compression and is designed to allow for fluid circulation and complete healing and draining. It should fit loosely on your body and not be too tight.
Stage 2 Compression Faja: This Faja should be worn starting from two weeks after surgery and should be worn for four weeks (from Week 2 to Week 6). This Faja provides more intense therapy to match your body's healing and helps to sculpt the waist, hips, and midsection. It should have high compression tummy control of the abdomen region and may or may not come with a crotch opening. This Faja does not come with rods to avoid irritating or pressurizing the incision points.
Stage 3 Compression Faja: This Faja should be worn 6-12 weeks post-surgery when your body and incisions have almost fully healed. This Faja has a waist trainer design and is built with rods, latex, and other high compression materials that significantly increase compression levels. It helps to shape, curve and snatch your silhouette. It is recommended that you keep the compression constant for the first six weeks at this stage. This Faja may come in small sizes that give higher compression.Final Take Away:
It is important to note that you need two garments per stage for alternation, and it takes about 4-5 hours for each garment to dry. For stage three, it is recommended to wear your Post-Op Compression Garment for 12 hours per day. It is also important to talk to your physician about any concerns you might have pre-op, during-op, and post-op and to back up your surgery with a healthy lifestyle to make sure the surgery effects stay permanent.

The 6 Best BBL Pillows (to Help You Sit) After a Brazilian Butt Lift
by Alfons Mala
on Oct 16 2020
BBL pillows are designed to help off-load the pressure on your butt and put it on your thighs. This way, the buttocks are elevated and won’t touch any surface.
This is important because, in the weeks after a BBL, the transferred fat cells are very delicate and prone to pressure, which can cause the fat to disappear.
Therefore, patients are usually encouraged to avoid sitting during the weeks following the procedure.
However, life does not stop, which means that you may need to sit for intervals of time during those weeks. Say, while working or going out.
In those situations, an off-loading pillow might be of great help.
